Company's Background



The founder of the group and our Late chairman Mr. Akberali Alibhai Africawala came to the then East Pakistan (present Bangladesh) from Africa. He was originally from Gujrat, India.

1952: The Company started its business in Bangladesh.

1960: The hand-rolling mill (manual) was running with a small capacity.

1985: Old machinery was dismantled and fully automatic mill machinery was imported from U.K. which enhanced our production capacity from 15,000m tones to 60,000m tones per annum.

1997: We were a regular customer of CHITTAGONG STEEL MILLS. Following its shut-down/lay-off, we started our Continuous Billets Casting Plant in the name of Meghna Engineering Works Limited (MEW) with a production capacity of 60,000m tones per annum. Its production capacity will be increased to 120,000m tones per annum after completing its on-going BMRE program. MEW feeds our BSRM.

2004: Massive BMRE program was taken and 20 TPH Re-heating furnace, 3 Hi-roughing Mill, High-speed Flyshare and Twin channel to increase production capacity to 120,000m tones per annum.
